Rifat started her journey into the visual arts at a very young age, drawing inspiration from her family and travels. She studied at the Corcoran School of Art and The Art League School. Her work is versatile, ranging from gestural abstractions to geometric forms with a keen interest in the interaction of color. Her work encompasses painting, printmaking, photography, encaustic, installation, and an array of works on paper such as drawings and collages. Her visual language is inspired by traditional art forms and architecture, as well as nature and music. She has participated in several group shows around the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Rifat is based in Virginia.
