About
Rifat is a visual artist based in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Her journey into the arts started at a very young age, drawing inspiration from her travels. Her creative practice is informed by the visual and symbolic language of geometry, gestural abstraction, and nature. She has always been drawn to geometric shapes in particular for their mathematical insights, their sensorial, metaphysical as well as spatial dimension. She works with different mediums depending on what comes organically to the work.
Her artwork has been featured in the Profound Patterns book published by UK publisher Wooden Books UK. She has also done illustrations for a children’s book Floating Words about water and climate change supported by Arts Council UK.
She is an active member of the local art community where she regularly exhibits her work, conducts art workshops, and is involved with community outreach programs.
